Friday

2nd August

Last day of the 2013 Summer Camp was pack-up day. We were expecting showers in the morning but fortunately they didn't arrive so we were able to get all the tents away dry.

Finally it was time for the closing ceremony and prize giving before going home. Many thanks to all the young people, and the parents, for making this a great camp!

Thursday

1st August

Today we had glorious sunshine and lovely hot temperatures all day! The day started with the Explorers playing a trick on Skip, giving him bamboo and sticking Pandas on his tent (his nickname is Panda!). After breakfast we all went kayaking and a lot of people got really wet when they capsized.

After lunch, the Cubs and Scouts went to Marlow. While the Cubs played in the park, the Scouts went to the town. After that, they all had an ice cream, and then fed the ducks and swans on the river. Meanwhile, the explorers played another trick on Skip by dressing up as pandas - Ben even wore Abbie's panda suit. Then, they went canoeing and fished for mussels, again getting very wet!

When we got back, Jack moved into the Scout tent as a "Scub" - as he will be moving up to Scouts next term. This allowed us to re-arrange some of the others and get a couple of tents down before dinner.

Finally, after dinner the Cubs, Scouts and most of the Explorers went Dragon Boating and went on a long trip up the river. When they got back, many of them jumped in, so then had a shower before bed.

Wednesday

31st July

Last night we had a campfire and we sat round it singing songs (photos for Tuesday updated here)

Today, all of us have been on the giant swing which is 14m (over 45 ft.) high and swings out over the river! The Cubs have made personalised woggles with some glow-in-the-dark beads. Then, we made rafts out of recyclable materials (cardboard and plastic bottles) and raced them over the water-orb pond. The simplest designs are apparently the best!

Tuesday

30th July

Today we have had great fun climbing in the rain. Most got to the top, but more importantly everybody had a go. The Cubs and Scouts did some map work and some knotting in the dining shelter before heading onto the Thames for bell boating. We all got to jump in!

Everybody has eaten a hearty dinner of chops, potatoes and veg – it was quite tricky for those with only one piece of cutlery!
